BRI Research Programs

Through our research programs, we work to better understand ecological health through the lens of wildlife. We work across the globe, from the Arctic to the Tropics. Explore all our different programs below!

Arctic program

BRI’s Arctic Program is involved in a range of research and conservation initiatives.

Biodiversity Program

BRI's Biodiversity Program conducts biodiversity surveys around the world.

Fisheries program

BRI's Fisheries Program focuses on including fish mapping, inventories, and contaminants monitoring.

Loon Program

BRI’s Loon Program is dedicated to assessing current and emerging threats to loons.

Mammal Program

BRI's Mammal Program uses selected species to evaluate ecosystem and population health.

Marine Bird Program

BRI's Marine Bird Program seeks to meet the conservation needs of marine birds.

Marine Mammal Program

BRI's Marine Mammal Program studies behavioral ecology and species distributions.

Net Positive Initiative

BRI’s NPI is designed to identify and promote advances in global biodiversity gain.

Raptor Program

BRI's Raptor Program conducts research that informs conservation and management needs.

Shorebird Program

BRI's Shorebird Program conducts population monitoring, movement and avian health studies.

Songbird program

BRI's Songbird Program studies birds across the United States and South and Central America.

Waterfowl Program

BRI’s Waterfowl Program works across North America to support conservation goals.

Our mission is to advance the understanding of biodiversity and their ecosystems by conducting independent science that informs decision-making and supports the conservation and health of the global environment.
