- August 24-26, 2019 – BRI Coastal Birdwatching Cruise. BRI teamed up with Tall Ships® Maine for an extraordinary birdwatching adventure.
- April 5 – May 25, 2019 – Conserve the Call and A Critical Balance Art Exhibits will be on display at the Portland Public Library, Lewis Gallery. Join us opening night, April 5th, in celebrating wildlife art and its role in inspiring conservation, as part of Portland’s First Friday Artwalk.
- May 11, 2019 – World Migratory Bird Day – Join us at River Point Conservation Area on Saturday, May 11th, from 7:30 am – 11:30 am to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day! Come along on a guided nature walk, observe bird banding demonstrations, or just stop by to say hello.
- November 19-23, 2018 – BRI attended the Second Conference of Parties to the Minamata Convention on Mercury, held at the International Conference Centre in Geneva, Switzerland.
- November 13, 2018 – NYSERDA hosted a public open house and poster session focused on wildlife science and management in relation to offshore wind energy development as part of its first State of the Science Workshop on Wildlife and Offshore Wind Energy Development. - October 6, 2017 – BRI biologist and Raptor Program Director, Chris Desorbo, presented “Migrant Raptors and Research on Block Island” as part of the Let’s Talk series sponsored by The Nature Conservancy and the Block Island Maritime Institute. Block Island October 10-12, 2017
- BRI loon biologist Vincent Spagnuolo participated in the Working Group Workshop for the Development of an Action Plan for Africa (2019-2027) in Dakar, Senegal as part of the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds.
- September 24-29, 2017 – BRI attended the first meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Minamata Convention on Mercury (COP1), held at the International Conference Centre in Geneva, Switzerland.
- August 8, 2017 – BRI biologist and Wildlife and Renewable Energy Program Director, Kate Williams, will be presenting on Impacts of offshore wind energy development on wildlife: Making decisions in the face of uncertainty at the Ecological Society of America annual conference in Portland, Oregon. 3:40 pm, Room D136, Oregon Convention Center
- July 16-21, 2017 – The 13th International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant (ICMGP) will be held in Providence, Rhode Island, July 16-21, 2017. With the theme Integrating Mercury Research and Policy in a Changing World, the conference will host participants from a variety of communities, including industry, government, research institutions, NGOs, and academics.
- April 8-30, 2017 – BRI biologist, Oksana Lane, participated in eXXpedition Caribbean 2017, assisting with sampling waters, surveying waste, and doing local outreach to raise awareness to reduce/eliminate ocean pollution. eXXpedition is a series of all women voyages to make the unseen seen, from the toxins in our bodies to the toxins in our seas. - October 16-20, 2016 – BRI raptor biologists Chris DeSorbo and Rick Gray attended the conference for the Raptor Research Foundation, in Cape May, NJ
- October 14, 2016 – World-renowned ornithologist, Ian Newton, spoke at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI. His talk, titled “Recent advances in the study of bird migration,” was held at URI as part of URI’s Biological & Environmental Sciences seminar series. Both BRI and URI collaborated to sponsor this event.
