BRI’s Centers of Research

BRI’s research capabilities have grown in response to pressing ecological issues, from the ability to study the natural history of loons to the development of new technologies that enable researchers to predict risks due to climate change and human development.

Conservation and Climate Change

BRI's Center for Conservation and Climate Change works around the world, studying the effects of climate change on ecosystems and species.

Waterbird Studies

BRI's Center for Waterbird Studies focuses on loons, waterfowl, and marine birds, conducting movement and tracking studies, contaminants monitoring, and avian health studies.

Offshore Wind & the Environment

BRI's Center for Research on Offshore Wind and the Environment works collaboratively with partners to improve our understanding of the impacts of offshore wind development to wildlife populations and their habitats.

Mercury Studies

BRI's Center for Mercury Studies leads projects around the world, including work with the Minamata Convention on Mercury and conducting mercury biomonitoring around the globe.

Our mission is to assess emerging threats to wildlife and ecosystems through collaborative research, and use scientific findings to advance environmental awareness and inform decision makers.
