BRI’s Motus guidance efforts featured in a blog posted by USFWS detailing research at Block Island Wind Farm.

The Motus Wildlife Tracking System deploys coded radio transmitters on birds and bats to study their migratory routes and behaviors. BRI biologists, along with researchers from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the University of Rhode Island, and Birds Canada (the developers of Motus), are “collaborating on an effort to optimize and standardize the use of Motus at offshore wind farms, by first testing the technology at one that already exists.”
